In this video, Dr. Carla Cohn explains some of the reasons why a child may need to have surgery under general anesthetic.

“A general anesthetic would be recommended for a child in the case that that child was unable to sit still for dental treatment in a traditional dental setting. That may be because of the age of the child, because of cooperation. That may be because of the extent of work that needs to be done and carried out for that child. So a variety of reasons would a child may be recommended to have dental surgery under general anesthetic.
