Lip Enhancement

face-lips

Injectable lip fillers are a non-surgical, non-permanent solution to smooth wrinkles and lines by adding volume to your lips. The procedure uses the patient’s own fat or hyaluronic acid fillers, and the results can last anywhere from six months to several years depending on the procedure you choose.

The entire procedure only takes about 1 hour from start to finish. We put the patient under a general anesthetic.

How It’s Done

At WSC, we inject fillers made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found in connective tissues and cartilage. Because it is a natural substance, this kind of injection does not carry the risk of an allergic reaction.

For a more permanent solution, we can perform a structural fat grafting of the lips. The results of permanent lip augmentation surgery can last anywhere from six months to several years, and this option requires an added minor procedure to harvest a micro-fat injection. It is worth advising that fat injections can be unpredictable, resulting in lumping and scarring.

Your plastic surgeon will recommend the most appropriate treatment option to help you achieve your vision.

Am I A Candidate?

Temporary lip fillers generally last about 6 months, and patients may not like the fact that the treatment is not permanent. However, permanent fillers carry increased risks of irreversible cosmetic deformity, migration of the filler, and acute and chronic infection and extrusion.

If you are in good general health and have specific but realistic goals for the improvement of your appearance, there is no defined age limit for this procedure.

What To Expect

Most injectable fillers cause some swelling for a period 24 to 36 hours. Although the swelling may be slightly noticeable, it should not prevent you from returning to your normal activities.  Micro-fat grafts cause slightly more swelling and require 48 to 72 hours before you resume normal activity.
